Henri Giraud PR 90-19

12% abv

Vol- 75cl

PR 90-19 introduces amazing energy to a great white wine and opens up a whole new dimension : one in which space and time are suspended, and in which complexity, fruit, and spirituality intertwine with shimmering wreaths of orange blossom shot through with flashes of chalk and bitter minerality.
It channels this fantastic energy, born of the fusion of Champagne’s hundred-million-year-old twin marine terroirs – Aÿ’s chalk and Argonne’s gaize – into a long, saline river, perfumed with subtle aromas. Here emotion, carried to its height, borders on the mystical.

100 % perpetual reserve wine. 80% Pinot Noir – 20% Chardonnay. Blend of wines from 1990 to 2019
3 years of aging on lees

Champagne Henri Giraud has decided to embark upon a 'Revolution' to remain true to itself.

Their new cuvees express respect for the terroir as a living entity, and embody Champagne Henri Giraud's own vision of natural wine which is neither a concept void of meaning nor a return to the past, but a pure affirmation of their identity. Thirty years of painstaking work to re-think the fundamentals of Champagne and develop their knowledge of the Argonne forest have strengthened their convictions: Wine of Excellence can only emanate from low yields, small recipients and noble raw materials. They therefore renounce the use of stainless steel vats for fermenting grapes in favour of Argonne oak barrels and terra cotta.

This search for meaning and authenticity is the mark of the Generation Z of wine, now at the helm at Champagne Henri Giraud. All of their champagnes now carry this signature: new wines, new bottles and new labels signed simply G

Champagne Henri Giraud is not certified organic, but we have trialled winemaking with certain "partner" vineyards and obtained Ecocert certification this year (vines certified for 3 years). For them it's clear that the organic label does not qualify a wine but rather the choice of type of pest control in the vines. In itself it does not guarantee the level of quality that they wish to obtain in the grapes. And as for the restrictions applicable to winemaking, they are already well below prescribed levels, which have no impact on either the quality or the personality of a wine.
