The Lafon family established this important domaine in the village of Milly-Lamartine in 1999, which now amounts to over 25 hectares, all farmed biodynamically. Vinification is mostly in foudres and demi-muids, though the domaine's Pouilly-Fuissé ferments in used 225-liter barrels, with élevage typically completed with a few months on the lees in stainless steel. Caroline Gon runs the estate, overseen by Dominique Lafon.
Heritiers du Comte Lafon Macon-Bussieres, Le Monsard 2018
13% abv
Vol- 75cl
“The 2018 Mâcon-Bussières Le Monsard comes from vines planted next to Milly-Lamartine but at higher altitude. It has a crisp, reserved, crushed limestone and oyster shell bouquet with traces of yellow flowers. The medium-bodied palate offers fine acidity, lovely weight in the mouth and orange peel, peach and lychee toward the Meursault-like finish. Superb.” 92 points. Neal Martin, Vinous, January 2020
