Gregor Hannah acquires rare single casks from the Scotch Whisky larder to mature at his own discretion and release under his own brand, Lady of the Glen. Since launching Lady of the Glen in 2012, he is proud to have delivered over 1000 bottles of exceptional whisky worldwide. The process begins by identifying suitable single casks based on their quality, rarity, flavour and flavour potential. Wood management is a key priority for Gregor as he personally sources and utilizes the very best specialist casks from bodegas in Portugal, vineyards in Italy and Germany, as well as bourbon hogshead barrels from the US for more traditional maturation. Every cask is taste-tested prior to release by Gregor and bottled at cask strength with no colourings or chill filtering. The beauty of a single cask release is the way whisky matures, as unique differences in the oak and maturation conditions ensures no two casks are ever the same.
Lady of the Glen Strathmill 10 Year Old Amarone Finish 5cl 2014
58.1% abv
Only 282 bottles, Cask – #802139 – Amarone Wine Cask Finish.
Distilled on 4th March 2014 and bottled on 24th July 2024.
A sweet and fruity distillate with distinct spicy and floral notes. Matured in a HHD before being finished in a Veneta Botti ex-Amarone wine cask for over 5 years.
Another hidden distillery where 99.9% of its output goes into Diagieo’s blends, this gem of a spirit lends itself well to a great cask. In this case, we selected an ex-Amarone wine case from Veneta Botti cooperage in San Vendemiano, Italy. The whisky then spent more than half its life in this cask fusing together the sweetness of the spirit with a raisiny dryness associated with the wine.
Tasting revealed – Toasted almonds, butterscotch sweets and rolling tobacco.
