Summerhall Disitllery was founded by friends Marcus and Matt and their desire to create the perfect G & T. At the time it was the first Gin Distillery to be opened in Edinburgh in over 150 years! Marcus had inherited a gin recepie from family that had lived in India in the 1940's and the rest is history.
Pickerings 1947 Gin
42% abv
Vol- 70cl
Nose: Clean fresh pine derived from the juniper, with citrus notes. Taste: Strongly aromatic in the mouth. There are hints of liquorice and cinnamon, slightly nutty notes and a sweet lavender-like softness. Finish: Refreshingly crisp and dry. Ready for another? (from Pickeringsgin.com)
Pickering’s 1947 Gin is based on an original Bombay recipe, dating from 17 July 1947. Kept as a family secret for over 66 years, it only resurfaced when they began distilling at Summerhall in Edinburgh. The original recipe gave them a gin full of fragrant spices and fresh citrus fruits – just the way they liked it in the days of the Raj.
