Pintail was first bottled in 1931 as Matthew Gloag & Son’s house brand of Dry Sherry and soon won international awards for its superior quality. It was first featured in Tatler magazine in 1935 – “You cannot be wrong in offering a glass of ‘Pintail’ to your guest for the little “11 o’clock” and before or after meals”.
The downturn in Sherry consumption in the latter half of the 20th century signalled the end for the brand, until... The Whisky Cellar acquired the rights in 2021, lining it up once again with its old ‘Brig O’ Perth’ stablemate.
Pintail Glen Spey 14 Years Old Loupiac Cask Finish 2009
54.7% abv
Vol- 70cl
This unique single malt, distilled and filled at Glen Spey Distillery, was matured in a refill ex-Bourbon hogshead and then finished in a French oak barrique, which previously held the creamy-sweet French white dessert wine, Loupiac. The resulting whisky carries notes of honeydew melon, apple pie, acacia bloom, almond oil and peppery oak.
