Located next to the Pétrus vineyards on the eastern side of Pomerol, Vieux Château Gachet has been owned by the Garpin family since Gérard Arpin’s great-grandfather founded the estate. He returned to the locality of Maillet after the First World War, and bought a hectare of wines. From there, the vineyard grew and was passed down through the generations. The family now own both Vieux Château Gachet, and Château Franc Maillet. Today, Gérard and his son Gäel are in charge, and keep up the family reputation of quality by maintaining a low yield of grapes to ensure concentrated flavours in their wines.
