Terre des Dames – Coteaux de Languedoc
Lidewij van Wilgen, a successful marketing executive in The Netherlands, started a new life in 2002 when she moved with her 3 young daughters to become a winemaker in the Languedoc. The vineyards were restored, the wine cellar renovated and the main house rebuilt. Now she is one of the ‘Leading Ladies of Languedoc’ and is highly regarded by Jancis Robinson and many other wine writers. Certified organic principles are applied to both viticulture and vinification, her naturally irrigated 14-hectare vineyard being a mix of clay, limestone, flint and fossilized oyster shells. The Diva Blanche is a rare 100% white Grenache, coming from the oldest plots of the grape and 100% oak aged for 5 months. The Diva Rosé is a textural GSM blend aged in large, old oak. La Dame is a blend of 50% Grenache, 30% Carignan & 20% Syrah. La Diva is a blend of Syrah and Grenache from old plots with 20% Alicante from 100 year old vines, aged in large oak. L’Unique is 60% Syrah with the estates’ oldest parcel of Grenache aged in top quality French oak – 2 barrels only.
