Fabio Motta's story is a winemaker’s dream fulfilled. After years of working alongside renowned Bolgheri producer—and now father-in-law—Michele Satta, Fabio founded his own estate in 2009, acquiring 4 hectares of vines first planted in 1997. Nestled in the heart of the Bolgheri DOC, his vineyards enjoy a prime position: sun-drenched slopes with a southwesterly exposure, perched between the rolling Tuscan hills and the shimmering Tyrrhenian Sea. From the beginning, Fabio's wines have expressed the soul of Bolgheri — its elegance, its structure, and its natural beauty. His approach in the cellar is one of minimal intervention, relying on native yeasts, no filtration, and a deep respect for the individuality of each vintage. The result is a range of wines defined not by force, but by finesse, balance, and layered complexity. In 2015, Fabio began converting his vineyards to biodynamic farming.
Fabio Motta Le Gonnare Bianco 2024
12.5% abv
100% Vermentino. Delicious and aromatic, chilled green orchard fruits, sea-spray, and aromatic ripe melon. Fermentation of destemmed grapes in amphora the wines rests post ferment for around six months. Bottled unfined and following a light filtration.
A note from Fabio: “My research in the “white” world led me to the definition of this unconventional wine. I have always found that the most interesting aspect of Vermentino lies in the skin. It is a delicious grape to eat, rich in aromatic notes. So I wanted to vinify Vermentino from “Le Gonnare” vineyard, a small area planted in 1987, leaving the skins to macerate with the must during alcoholic fermentation. A six-day contact that transferred these aromatic suggestions and a golden colour to the wine, without weighing it down. A mouth full and tense at the same time.”
