Fabio Motta Pievi Bolgheri Rosso 2021

13.5% abv

Vol- 75cl

Blend of Merlot (50%), Cabernet Sauvignon & Sangiovese (25% each) – primary fresh fruits, notes alongside balsamic notes and rich in pliant ripe tannins carrying great perfume and texture.

Harvested by hand and each variety is fermented in wooden barrels of 33 hl with the natural yeasts only. The cap is pushed down by hand twice a day and in the first days of fermentation with frequent delastages to let the must breathe. Normally the fermentations take two weeks for each variety, after that the wine is blended and passes into 2 and 3 years old barriques where naturally runs the malolactic fermentation and rests for 12 months it is bottled without undergoing any filtration or fining.

Fabio Motta founded his winery in 2009 with the acquisition of 4 hectares of vines planted in 1997 within the DOC of Bolgheri.

This is the story of one man’s dream come true, Fabio Motta, who founded the winery in 2009 with the acquisition of 4 hectares of vines planted in 1997 within the Bolgheri DOC. The position is excellent: overlooking the sea, at the feet of the characteristic rolling hills of Bolgheri, with southwestern exposure. No newcomer to Bolgheri, Fabio has worked for many years with esteemed Bolgheri producer Michele Satta, who is also his father-in-law.

Fabio’s wines respect and reflect the characteristic traits of the Bolgheri terroir, interpreted within the unique frame of each vintage. In the cellar, Fabio works in a simple way, following his philosophy of “non-interference,” using natural yeasts and no filtering, crafting wines which excel in elegance and complexity rather than power and concentration.

In 2015 Fabio started converting his vineyards into biodynamic.
