Built in 1881 by William Robertson and brothers James and William Greenless, Bunnahabhain is the most northerly distillery on Islay and means 'mouth of the river' in Gaelic. In 2003, Bunnahabhain was bought by Burn Stewart distillers and has been operated by them since. They also own Tobermory and Deanston distilleries.
