The first site of the former Loch Lomond Distillery dates back to 1814, sited at the north end of Loch Lomond near Tarbet (known as Tarbat). Sadly in the old days relatively few paper records were kept and the closing date of this Distillery remains unclear.
The current Loch Lomond Distillery was founded in 1965 by the former owners of the Littlemill Distillery, in Bowling, a few miles up the road towards Glasgow.
Loch Lomond Inchmoan 12 Year Old
46% abv
Vol- 70cl
Nose: Mint leaf, burnt wood, a hint of medicinal peat.
Palate: Spicy as it opens, with plenty of black pepper and cinnamon. Soon enough, layers of toffee develop to balance it out.
Finish: Fruitier notes arrive on the finish.
Inchmoan 12 is born from a combination of malt whiskies from a traditional pot still and a unique straight neck pot still to create unconventional peat characteristics with a lot of depth. Matured in recharred American oak and refill Bourbon casks giving sweet vanilla notes that compliment the soft peat.
