Port Askaig is a small but important village on the north east coast of Islay. Nestled on ancient granite rocks along side the Sound Of Islay channel, Port Askaig was and still is the gateway to Islay. From century old invaders and traders of the past to the tourists, whisky explorers and Isle lovers of today. Our whisky is named after this special place. Port Askaig Islay Single Malt Whisky was created in 2009 by independent bottlers, Elixir Distillers. Though a small company, Elixir Distillers and its founders have been recognised globally by the prestigious International Wine and Spirits Competition for their commitment to the industry. Their innovations have received great acclaim and several awards at Imbibe, a show that holds the respect of UK’s top on and off trade gurus. Port Askaig uses casks that have been meticulously matured and blended by Master Blender, Oliver Chilton. Each expression is made purely to reflect the essence of Islay’s beauty, its whisky, and its lifestyle. This elegant, balanced, and refined liquid offers flavours from bonfire smoke and peaty bogs, to soft, salty sea air.

Port Askaig Cask Strength
59.1% abv
Nose: Dominant aromas of bonfire smoke and lemon zest. You may also find notes of caramel-glazed bacon, dark fruits like blackberries and blueberries, roasted stone fruits, and hints of chocolate treacle or espresso.
Palate: A rich, oily texture featuring cinder toffee and dark chocolate. Spices such as black pepper, ginger, and star anise balance the sweetness of marmalade and orange zest. Coastal elements like salt and lime provide a fresh, vibrant contrast to the robust peat smoke.
Finish: Long and warming with lingering charcoal smoke and cacao nibs. Expect late notes of raspberry leaf tea, peppery warmth, and a toffee-like
No more than 60 casks will make up each batch. Each cask is selected for the notes it will bring to the whisky. Each batch will have a unique code and shows the cask breakdown which enables the recipient, each year, to contrast, compare and explore the different notes that the wood and blending brings to this Islay Scotch Whisky. #02-2024 uses the cask selection to create layers of sweetness, zest intertwined with the classic smoke of Islay.
